Is Ecochain software different from Ecochain Helix and Mobius?

No, Ecochain Helix and Ecochain Mobius are part of the same Ecochain LCA automation software. Helix and Mobius are simply names we’ve used in the past to describe different applications of the software – product-level footprinting and portfolio footprinting at scale.

Today, we call it Ecochain software for a better product experience. Whether you’re generating EPDs for construction products or need PCFs to meet customer needs, you’re using the same underlying solution with the tools, data management capabilities and LCA expert support you need.

Implementation of Ecochain is quick – typically a few days to a few weeks. Here’s what happens during implementation:

  • Account setup and user access configuration
  • Data integration (connecting your systems or importing existing data)
  • Training sessions for your team
  • Setting up your workspace and project structure

Once Ecochain software is implemented, you begin building your LCA foundation – defining manufacturing processes, uploading product data and creating LCA models. This setup phase takes a few days to a few weeks depending on your portfolio complexity and how quickly you can gather product data. Our LCA experts support you throughout both implementation and the LCA setup process.

Yes, Ecochain is built to work with the data you already have.

You can import primary data from suppliers (material specs, energy use, transport distances) via CSV, XLSX or API, your own bill of materials and product specifications, or use secondary data to fill gaps with Ecoinvent or other LCI databases included in Ecochain. This gives you accurate, product-specific results across your portfolio – not one-size-fits-all results from locked datasets.

If suppliers won’t or cannot provide you with product data, you’re not blocked. Ecochain software includes comprehensive LCI databases like Ecoinvent or NMD that provide secondary data for materials, energy, transport and manufacturing processes.

Best practice? 

  • Start with secondary data to build your LCA models and generate results. 
  • As your suppliers become more willing to share primary data (or as regulations require it) you can update your models to improve accuracy.
