Ecochain Certifies as a B Corporation™

Amsterdam, July 24, 2025 – A Dutch sustainability software company, Ecochain, has announced its certification as a B Corporation (B Corp), joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit. Ecochain has been certified by B Lab, the nonprofit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards that represent its commitment to goals beyond shareholder profit.

The B Corp Certification addresses the entirety of a business’s operations and covers five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. The certification process is rigorous and requires applicants to reach a minimum score of 80 out of 200 in the B Impact Assessment, supported by documented evidence. Companies are evaluated on responsible practices around energy use, water and waste management, employee compensation, equity and inclusion, and overall transparency.

Ecochain scored 97.1 points in its first certification. As part of the process, Ecochain will legally embed its commitment to purpose beyond profit in its company articles. Every B Corp must recertify every three years to maintain the certification and ensure ongoing progress.

Purpose Beyond Profit

Since its founding, Ecochain has focused on making sustainability reporting accessible for businesses of all sizes. Through its software, training, and guidance, Ecochain empowers companies to take ownership of their environmental impact. But like many growing companies, Ecochain faced the challenge of balancing internal growth with external impact.

“To me, a B Corp Certification is definitely not just about a piece of paper and a score,” said Frans-Willem de Kloet, CEO of Ecochain. “It’s more about how we, as an organization and as individuals, want to do business. I’m very pleased with both the team and our shareholders for supporting us in doing this the right way.”

Ecochain’s ambition is clear: to help thousands of companies across Europe reduce their environmental footprint in a credible, measurable, and cost-effective way–while modeling the same principles from within, and to make impact data shareable for 100 million products by 2035.

A Global Movement for Better Business

Ecochain is now part of a community of over 9,900 certified B Corps around the world, including 500+ companies in the Benelux region. These businesses span a wide range of industries and include respected names like Bugaboo, Rituals, Hak, Ace & Tate, Auping, TooGoodToGo, Tony’s Chocolonely, Triodos Bank, and Swapfiets.

Tessa van Soest, Director of B Lab Benelux, shared:

“Being able to welcome Ecochain to the B Corp community is hugely exciting. Their commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and really help spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit.”
