How LCA insights drive real ecodesign

The Circle — Ecochain Roundtable Sessions

From footprint to product: how LCA insights drive real ecodesign

A small-group conversation for sustainability leads who want their LCA data to change what gets made, not just what gets reported.

You’ve done the work. The footprints are calculated, the hotspots identified, the reports delivered. But too often, that’s where it stops. The insights live in a PDF while the products stay exactly the same.

Turning LCA results into actual design decisions: Different materials, different suppliers, different products, is where sustainability stops being a compliance exercise and starts being a business advantage. It’s also where most organizations get stuck: designers don’t own the data, procurement doesn’t own the footprint, and nobody owns the gap between them.

This session is for the practitioners working in that gap.

What’s on the table

This is a roundtable, not a webinar: The conversation goes where you take it. You bring the questions you’re wrestling with; the group brings its experience. To give you a feel for the territory, here are the kinds of questions you might bring:

  • “Which regulations should actually be driving my ecodesign agenda – ESPR, digital product passports, green claims rules – and which can wait?”
  • “How good does my data foundation need to be before design teams can act on it? When is ‘good enough’ data better than waiting for perfect?”
  • “How do I get data and real design collaboration from suppliers, without burning the relationship?”
  • “How do I convince internal stakeholders that sustainable design is a brief, not a constraint?”
  • “Can ecodesign protect us from greenwashing accusations, and how do I make our claims stand up to scrutiny?”
  • “Honestly: why would we design more sustainable products at all? What’s the business case – consumer demand, tenders, competitive advantage?”

Recognize one of these? Bring it. Have a different one? Even better.
